Dear South Africa Insight readers,
It is with great concern that I bring to your attention the dire situation facing many citizens of South Africa. People are being forced to swim across dangerous rivers just to get from one side to the other, as shown in the news story in the video above. This is a complete disaster, and it highlights the fact that South Africa is spiraling towards becoming a complete third-world nation.
Unfortunately, the situation at the river crossing is just the tip of the iceberg. South Africa has been on a steady decline from a once prosperous and stable nation to a country beset by crime, poverty, and political instability. The scheduled load shedding lasting for hours on a daily basis all over the country only adds to the challenges faced by the citizens.
The root cause of this decline is the same failed policies and corruption that have left the people of South Africa in such dire straits today. However, there are still some pockets of hope, such as the town of Orania, which has been able to thrive in spite of the many challenges facing the country.
In the coming weeks, I will be visiting Orania to see first-hand how this small community has managed to build a well-functioning city in South Africa. I believe that their success could serve as a model for other parts of the country, and I look forward to sharing my findings with you in my upcoming report on Orania and the people who call it home.
Sincerely,
Jonas Nilsson
