Dricus Du Plessis - UFC's New Middleweight Champion
Dear Readers,
A historic triumph at UFC 297! Dricus Du Plessis, the first South African champion in UFC history, has captured the middleweight belt with a split decision victory (48-47, 48-47, 47-48) over Sean Strickland. Despite an almost swollen shut left eye, Du Plessis demonstrated remarkable resilience and tactical skill, particularly in the decisive rounds.
Strickland started strong, but Du Plessis broke through his defense multiple times, including a successful takedown. From the third round, Du Plessis upped the ante and took control. An elbow from Du Plessis in the fourth round caused a significant gash on Strickland's face, and multiple takedowns further solidified Du Plessis' advantage.
In the fifth and final round, Du Plessis appeared to be ahead, but Strickland responded with powerful combinations. Ultimately, the victory went to Du Plessis, marking a rapid and impressive rise within the division.
This victory for Du Plessis is not just a personal triumph but also an inspiration and proof that relentless dedication and hard work pay off.
